Interview - Mark Arthur – Handicapped
The time we spent with Mark Arthur felt more like two old friends talking than an interview. With his first project Handicapped completed and his sophomore project “The Obligation” on deck. Mark took time out of his crazy schedule to educate us on how damaging sin is to our potential.

Priming The Pump
Have you ever been listening to the radio and find yourself singing along to a song that is complete garbage? I’m sure that has happened to all of us at least once in our lives. The funny thing is there is actually a reasonable explanation for why this happens. Whether you believe it or not, music and other media have an effect on our overt behavior. Before you stop reading this and accuse me of sounding too much like your mother, or some bible thumping Jesus freak. Please, allow me to explain why listening to sexually explicit, violent music or other similar types of media can have a negative affect on your relationship with God.

All eyes on Holy Hip Hop
In 2006, The Gospel Music Association (GMA) reported estimates that Christian hip-hop and rock music accounted for 25% of all Gospel music sales. At this year’s 49th Annual Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy introduced a new category, Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album, giving props to a new subgenre of Hip-Hop and legitimizing the marketability of this underground movement.

Interview - Everyday Process- "All day Everyday"
“Success” in Christian Hip hop is something that is immeasurable; record sales will never determine the effectiveness of any artist. The call to do the work of the ministry has not escaped the attention of Mac and Izreal of Everyday Process. Through their Cross Movement-distributed album The Process of Illumination and Elimination, these Chester, Pennsylvania, natives are looking to reach the unbelievers while putting the message of Jesus Christ clearly on display.

Interview - K Drama - "CeaseFire Cincinnati"
Many Christian rap artists say that they are not just about making music, and claim they are trying to change hip hop, their communities and so forth. Some of those claims are just that claims. But, Cincinnati native and Gospel MC, K-drama is setting an example of how an MC should use his God given talents to positively affect change in his or her community.  With gun violence on the rise in his hometown K- drama, born Regis Jones, decided not to sit around and complain anymore. He decided to take action.  If we truly believe that Christian hip hop is a ministry then we should take a cue from this brother on how to take our talents out of the booth, off the stages and truly answer the call of The Great Commission of Christ.

Change the Game - 04.26.07
- Real Community II -

Real Community is messy. When people from different cultural, racial and any other backgrounds try to live life together things are bound to get messy. This kind of situation forces to call on Jesus, so that He can impart His Holy Spirit in us. Giving us the power to love people that are completely different that us, the way He instructed us to.

Change the Game - 04.01.07
- Real Community -

Take a look at your belly button, it is a testament to the fact that people are wired for community. From our birth we are totally dependent on someone else. However, somewhere in our upbringing we are taught to be totally independent and self sufficient. So we spend our lives trying to find independence only to find an even stronger urge to belong. So in lays the paradox of contemporary American Culture. We are a nation originally rooted in the Christian faith, but contemporary culture is subtly moving us into conflict with the very thing we long to have.

The Great Trade
Jesus Christ offered His life in a trade for believers. Who got the better side of this deal? On one side, there is Jesus: the Son of God, co-creator of the universe, 1/3 of the Trinity, sent from heaven to earth in human form and was tempted in all ways that we are but remained sinless. On the other side is we, humankind, born into sin, corrupt in our flesh and all have fallen short of God’s grace. On the surface, it would seem clear that we got the better side of this transaction. How could one even consider otherwise. Easily, the sovereign Lord (God; organization) felt we were worth the sacrifice of His only begotten son.

Change the Game

- No More Church As Usual -

T
he bible says that we are supposed to be imitators of Christ, to do as He did. That is the whole thought process behind those “WWJD” bracelets you see all over the place. What would Jesus do or what does Jesus believe. It is wonderful that people are trying to imitate Jesus’ actions and deeds. It is even more wonderful that a great many of us believe He is the Messiah, but I have come to realize that these are not enough. Trying to do what Jesus did and believing in Him is not enough to please God. I know what you are thinking right now I felt the same way, when I figured it out I was like “dag, there’s more?” Well, sorry to say that there is.

Take Your Stunna Shades Off
Our experiences, our parents, our friends, our environment, wishes, fears, prejudices, churches we’ve attended, our race, our nationality all provide the “frame work” for how we view the world. If our experiences and the like are the frames, then how we interpret what we see, hear and read would be the lenses.

Street Credibility
Street credibility will make you or break you in the hip hop game. Your favorite rapper probably wouldn’t be your favorite rapper without it.

Think Small

We have been taught to believe bigger is better but God thinks otherwise, He weaves the spectacular from the ordinary.
